Sony wants to further optimize the future of the TV experience and immerse viewers even deeper into the world of series, concerts and movies. For this reason, the entertainment giant wants to advance its 360 Reality Audio and is now bringing it to video streaming.
“360 Reality Audio is a new music experience that uses Sony’s spatial sound technologies. Listeners can experience music in an immersive spherical sound field.”
We really only know the three-dimensional sound image from the cinema. If voices in the series or in the film come from a certain direction, you hear this sound as a visitor also from the corresponding direction. Sony’s 360 Reality Audio also creates the impression and mixes position data of the voices in the movie, concert or series with the audio files.

So far, however, the range of such offers is limited and is used especially for live video concerts, such as those of Alicia Keys or Zara Larsson. To change this and to make other broadcasters and streamers take notice, there is now a live concert tomorrow with Zara Larsson, who will give a performance in 360 Reality Audio at 11 pm. The effect will be enhanced even further with Sony’s special headphones, which support 360 Reality Audio.
Content production is also expected to become easier over the course of the year. Together with Virtual Sonics, Sony has developed new software for fast content production. This is compatible with most popular digital audio workstations and will be released at the end of January.
Sony has turned an industry on its head more often than not, especially in the wake of CES. This year, the company hopes to use it to further shape the multimedia experiences of the future and reinvent the production system that has existed until now.
