Welcome to Walmart Land – Walmart launches its own world in the Metaverse

Walmart – the retail giant has always shown a sense for current trends in the past, be it through their robots, NFTs or their efforts to create the supermarket of the future. But now Walmart enters the metaverse and proudly presents their latest creation: Walmart Land.

Via Twitter, the company announced that they are using Metaverse pioneer Roblox to now bring their stores to the virtual world. So if you don’t fancy a real shopping experience in a supermarket, you can now have two unique experiences in the sandbox world of Roblox.
Once there is Walmart Land, which brings fashion, accessories, entertainment items and more to the 52 million daily Roblox users. Virtual goods, or verch, can also be purchased for players’ avatars. It is not yet known exactly how the transaction will take place, but it is speculated that it will require the in-game currency Robux.

Walmart’s Universe of Play, on the other hand, does not focus on fashion and luxury items, but is supposed to make toy dreams come true, fitting for Christmas. Here you can find a wide variety of items that will be perfect under the Christmas tree.

In addition, Walmart Land has a virtual Ferris wheel; a quiz that they offer together with Netflix and Stranger Things; digital concerts and much more.

With their own world in the Metaverse, Malmart is just one of many companies trying their first steps in the so-called future of the Internet, but it shows once again that the retail chain is not too shy to test a trend – without any directly recognizable guarantees of success.
