Artificial intelligence is increasingly finding its way into digital recruiting. Whether in the training of employees or in the selection of applications. Now, according to a recent report in the Handelsblatt, Springer subsidiary Stepstone also wants to use algorithms for job placement.
The job platform already announced in March in a blog post that they want to use artificial intelligence to help place the right jobs even better.
“Our goal is to measure the world of work. We want to better understand which companies and which people fit together” – Dr. Sebastian Dettmers, CEO Stepstone
By the use of artificial intelligence, according to the plan of the well-known portal, potential applicants and searching companies are to be brought together even better and brought together according to wishes and requirements. In an interview with Handelsblatt, Dettmers called this “autonomous matching”.
The process behind it is very simple: the applicants have to provide the classic details of their career, skills and desired job in their profile and the AI-supported algorithm suggests the right job, better and more precisely than before.
However, companies looking for candidates can also benefit from the new AI. According to Stepstone, they will receive a list of particularly suitable candidates with a high matching value.
Whether the job seekers are really willing to reveal more data in order to find the right job is currently in the test phase. In Great Britain, where the function has already been rolled out, 20 million users have already created a profile, in Germany it looks a little different. But to really hold its own in the long term, Stepstone is inevitably relying on artificial intelligence, Big Data and Machine Learning. A system that is also attracting interest in politics.
“StepStone shows how artificial intelligence can be used efficiently to get the right minds in the right places” – Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, Digital Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia
Just how good the function is will become apparent in practice, but the way the job portal Stepstone is going is an important milestone to prevail against Facebook and Google as competition.
