In the past I already wrote about the chances of Augmented Reality in Business and Marketing. But a lot has changed since the last article. Thanks to companies such as MagicLeap and Microsoft, the technology is constantly evolving and already offers many opportunities in brand management.

In this article we therefore take a look at five examples of the use of Augmented Reality in marketing.

Pepsi Max – the Augmented Reality bus stop

Classic out-of-home advertising is boring, because classic posters are barely shown to advantage in the whole flood of information in cities and buses. That’s what Pepsi thought and developed an immersive bus stop. Even though the example dates back to 2014, it is still a great way to make waiting at a bus stop more interactive.

Living products

Marketing can be very well brought onto the street or presented at the point-of-sale. There we can direct buyers’ attention to certain features and inspire them with a product. But classic marketing usually ended when the product left the store. Augmented reality can help here. With AR, for example, I can bring products to life, as here in the example of Lemon&Orange.

Diving into foreign worlds

The core idea of films is to immerse the audience in foreign worlds. They should identify with the characters and immerse themselves in the Hollywood world. One film that even made this its plot was Spielberg’s “Ready Player One”. Matching the immersive posters of the blockbuster.

Watch out: Zombies!

The success of Pokemon Go alone shows that augmented reality works as a game in the real world. But what if you replace the Pokemon with zombies? The AR app for the hit series The Walking Dead impressively shows that it can be a success.

Augmented Reality MakeUp

Meanwhile it is almost a classic, but despite everything it is hard to imagine AR marketing without it – the virtual mirror. Whether L’Oreal or other cosmetic giants. They all rely on AR as a sales argument for their customers.

The examples listed here are just some of the many possibilities offered by Augmented Reality Marketing, but they show the most typical representatives of the genre of innovative marketing and perhaps inspire one or the other marketing expert to create his or her own campaigns.
