69% of routine management tasks are automated by AI

A recent study by the research institute Gartner predicts that artificial intelligence will take over many tedious and recurring tasks of management, opening up new opportunities for visionary management. By 2024, the study estimates that 69% of the bureaucratic workload of managers will be taken over by AI.

“The role of the manager will be completely revised in the next four years. Currently, managers often have to spend time filling out forms, updating information and approving workflows. By using AI to automate these tasks, they can spend less time managing transactions and more time learning, managing performance and setting goals”. – Helen Poitevin, Vice President for Research at Gartner

However, this does not represent a direct threat to the professional image of the manager, but will fundamentally change his or her role. Artificial intelligence will enable department heads and managers to focus more on improving the employee experience and developing an organisational competence for responsible use of AI.

AI to promote diversity in the workplace

The shortage of skilled workers does not leave any company unaffected. The Gartner study shows that almost 75% of human resources managers see the lack of skilled workers as a major problem for the development of their companies. Artificial intelligence and the automation of certain management tasks are paving the way for more managers with disabilities, which have not been adequately tapped so far.

Gartner estimates, according to a recent survey of professionals, that companies that actively employ people with disabilities experience up to 89% higher retention rates, a 72% increase in employee productivity and a 29% increase in profitability.

Artificial intelligence can almost triple the number of people with disabilities employed by 2023 as AI and new technologies reduce barriers to entry. Gartner therefore recommends that managers today explicitly prioritise accessibility when implementing new technologies.

This area clearly shows that artificial intelligence will change many things in companies. Managers must therefore actively consider the potential of the new technology today and gradually convert their processes to increasing automation.
