Digitalization does not stop at any area. The construction site is also becoming increasingly modern, networked and efficient as a result of emerging technologies. The TU Munich, in cooperation with Holo-Light, MTS, Vemcon and Fritzmeier Cabs, is currently conducting research on site 4.0 using Augemented Reality.

As Build-Ing, the platform for Building Information Modeling, reported, the project aims to give construction machinery drivers access to the digital future.
“An exciting year 2019 awaits us on the subject of Building 4.0 at federal level, which was initiated by the VDMA. […]Our initiative fits to include the driver with data goggles in the event and to supply him futuristically via holography with the required data for the construction process and the machine.” – Stephan Kessler, Academic Director at the Chair of Materials Handling Material Flow Logistics at the Technical University of Munich.
The goal is above all to minimize the costs for machine downtimes, since the networked machines optimally analyze and avoid waiting times and missing utilization. Mixed Reality data goggles allow optimum measurement and efficient cultivation of the site. This means that only the machines that are needed are really on site. The targets are always visible and can be enriched with sensor data.
The fact that the TU Munich is on a promising path with its research project is also shown by the nomination of the project for the final of the bauma Innovation Award.
