Have you ever wished your photos would come to life? We know this image from movies like Harry Potter, where actually static photographs suddenly smile and interact with you. But in reality, photographs are rather lifeless – until now, anyway. A new AI service called Deep Nostalgia brings photographs to life and fascinated the Internet this week.

The service from the company MyHeritage uses an AI algorithm to bring static images to life. To do this, the service uses a deep fake service called Deep Nostalgia, which can breathe life into even the oldest photos.
So whether it’s a black and white photograph or a recent selfie, through the trained information about facial expressions and body language, the AI selects the most appropriate sequences for the photo, making it possible to experience the photos of ancestors, relatives or even statures in action.

That just in the social media by the service a meme-fest arose is almost self-explanatory in this regard, and in addition to some heartbreaking comments about relatives who were seen smiling for the first time in decades, there were also archaeologists who had their fun with ancient statures and images.
To use the AI service, one must have a free account with MyHeritage and upload the photo to be animated. However, as with previous Internet services for photo editing, privacy concerns must be expressed here, because what finally happens to the recordings remains not really finally clarified. However, for those who have always wanted to dive into the Harry Potter universe to feel a bit more like a wizard in Hogwards, the application is ideally suited.
