An call for the spirit of innovation

Sometimes, with all the articles about innovative strength and trends, you also need an article that takes a different direction. What would a good media portal  be without commentaries. Today, I would like to write one as an innovation profiler and future strategist about the spirit of innovation.

I have been doing this job for almost 11 years now. It all started with the work on the then top topic of digital transformation “Facebook”. But a lot has happened since then – Web 2.0 has left its mark and changed everything. But we’ve also seen new trends and technologies come to life. From smartphones to robotics to today’s metaverse. But what has never changed since the early days of social media was the attitude of entrepreneurs towards change.

Even back then, in my first seminars, people said “Social media, does it have to be real? We’re gaaaay not into that” – and today we can replace social media with metaverse, robotics, blockchain, artificial intelligence, etc. etc. We somehow lack the spirit of innovation. Even though we would actually take nothing but benefits from many changes, there is a lack of motivation to really engage with the topic and think it through a bit. The new trends and technologies really do offer many advantages.

Employees can be relieved, processes can be optimized, risks can be minimized and money can be saved. Actually, arguments that would lead to wild applause in any pitch or meeting. But when it comes to implementation, the joy is immediately dampened and motivation sinks to the bottomless pit.

I would like to start an appeal in this comment therefore. Please give the future a chance. It needs its time, it is still far from perfect, but with a little imagination and the appropriate sense of adventure, something great can emerge. We will not move forward as a society, nor as a market, if we cling to the status quo forever. We will not get anywhere as a human race if innovations only come from billionaires in the USA. We need courage, we need a little craziness, and we need innovative spirit.

Let’s shape the future together, that would be my wish to you dear readers and to everyone out there. The future is in our hands – we just have to dare to shape it.
