I have already reported on Elon Musk’s satellite network Starlink in the past. After first tests of the Internet from space, Futurezone now reports about new plans of the company.
Currently, the first access points to the Starlink network can already be pre-ordered, but competition with Internet providers is not enough for the company here. According to a filing with the FCC, the Federal Communications Commission, Starlink wants to fully enter the telecommunications field with its satellite network and offer not only broadband, but also telephone services. What is special about this filing is that it focuses particularly on connection security even during power outages. This is to be made possible thanks to voice-over-IP. Initial tests are already underway and are to be launched on the market in the near future at low rates.
With this announcement, Elon Musk and Starlink are following similar paths as he has done in the past. Musk has already turned entire industries upside down with SpaceX, Tesla, but also PayPal, and his latest target is the telecommunications industry.
