Future of mobility – MINI combines car and living room in its new concept car

What does the future of mobility look like? More and more companies are asking themselves this question – including the BMW Group. Its new concept for the Mini offers an answer. The Mini Vision Urbanaut is intended to be a car and living room in one, offering drivers a place of retreat in a world dominated by self-propelled cars.

The electric concept car has an extremely dynamic design and offers changing layouts for the interior, fittings and seats. Looking at the concepts, one is quickly reminded of a comfortable living room on wheels.

A new way of thinking for driver comfort

“MINI sees its future self primarily as an enabler of and companion for unforgettable times – what we might call ‘MINI moments’. The MINI Vision Urbanaut uses three curated MINI moments – “Chill”, “Wanderlust” and “Vibe” – to present a wide range of possible usage scenarios.”

.
The different moments are to do justice to the different moods of the riders. So the “Chill” mode is there to let the riders take a deep breath or work in a relaxed way. The car should become a place of retreat that offers full comfort while driving.
“Wanderlust”, on the other hand, is the only MINI moment when the MINI Vision Urbanaut is being driven or driving with automated driving functions. “Vibe” focuses on the shared journey and offers space for a fun ride while driving. Each of the moments, emphasized Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design, is designed to put the focus on the human being and to adapt the exterior and interior to the respective needs.

According to BMW, the concept car uses sustainable and recycled materials and is thus also intended to put the focus on recycling and sustainability.
When and whether the concept will become a real product remains uncertain, but the first pictures definitely whet the appetite for more MINI moments.
