If you look at the trade press, it is difficult to get past one topic: blockchain. The new technology is often hyped as the key to the digital revolution, but is it really so? On June 25, 2018, the Genesis Talk tracked down this question with the first event in its series.

The event, which was a cooperation of Staking Facilities with Creative Dock, wanted to highlight the versatile opportunities of decentralized technology for our daily and professional lives and found a suitable speaker for it. Enzo Haussecker, Senior Engineer at DFINITY gave a deep insight into their unique project. The company has set itself the task of building an Internet-based supercomputer that makes many blockchain applications possible in the first place.

The DFINITY supercomputer – a breakthrough for the blockchain
In his presentation, Enzo Haussecker made it clear where he and his company would like to go. DFINITY is a completely new, innovative and decentralized way of computing. The blockchain computer is similar in design to Ethereum, but offers better performance and considerable cost efficiency. The more host machines become part of the network, the stronger the computing power of the supercomputer.
The topic of performance is a co-criterion for the success of such a computer system. Current systems, although blockchain-based, only complete the necessary arithmetic operations after a few minutes. Although this is already worlds faster than it has been for many years, Dfinity wants to go one step further with its development and massively increase the speed.
The innovative atmosphere of Genesis Talks and the good network are just the beginning. The two organizers have the vision to create a Munich blockchain hub and to gather the experts and supporters at events, but also for other exchange and expansion. How expert knowledge and networks can be meaningfully combined in the Bavarian state capital will be an exciting topic in the coming months, to which I will also devote more intensive time. So I look forward to the next steps of the Genesis Hub.
