Dreaming with eyes open. This is virtual reality. Virtual Reality fulfils a dream people have had for a long time. You can go anywhere you want without effort. Whether in a foreign country or a fantasy world. With VR, dreams come true. This sounds like an advertising slogan now, but if you look at these scenes from the Google Daydream experiment alone, we quickly realize how close we are to dreaming in the virtual world.
VR allows us to dive into this virtual world with the help of such glasses. The environment around you is faded out and replaced by the virtual world that tries to represent a form of reality. In short, VR is a virtual world full of real objects.
At the expert conference “Medien des Clubs of former scholarship holders (CdAS) der Hanns-Seidel-Foundation about “VIRTUAL REALITY – Are you still looking or are you already experiencing?”With my keynote note “Virtual Reality – A Technology to Dream” I was able to go into the history of Virtual Reality, the application of the technology and the opportunities for the future.
After my lecture, exciting insights from the practice of experts and technicians followed. All in all, the visitors of the symposium were able to gain a great all-round insight into VR and discover the possibilities of immersive technology directly in a built up Holospace.
