Gartner’s 5 steps to enterprise-wide deployment of artificial intelligence

artificial intelligence must find its place in all companies and industries. AI has many strategic advantages for companies of all sizes and industries. But where can managers identify the best areas of application and how can they use them strategically? A revised analysis by the Gartner research institute reveals the potential.

By the end of 2020, according to the Gartner 2020 CIO Agenda Survey, many companies are planning to introduce AI solutions. However, the problem with such projects is not the planning of a pilot, but the company-wide introduction. According to the study, rolling out to production is a challenge that affects all the companies surveyed:

“Although the potential for success is enormous, delivering business impact from AI initiatives takes much longer than anticipated” – Chirag Dekate, Senior Director Analyst, Gartner

In order to optimize the implementation, Gartner has identified five predictions for the rapid development and deployment of artificial intelligence.

1. AI will drive infrastructure decisions forward

Until 2030, one of the main tasks of artificial intelligence will be to drive infrastructure decisions. To introduce AI pilots across the enterprise, specific infrastructure resources are therefore required that can grow and evolve as the technology advances. The infrastructure will therefore have to be constantly refined in order to ensure the long-term success of projects.

2. Mastering the increasingly complex AI

One major technological challenge is the complexity of data and analyses. To counteract this challenge, a trustworthy and close partnership between IT and the rest of the company is needed. Only together can the data be interpreted and integrated into artificial intelligence.

3. Simple machine learning is often sufficient

Really successful projects, according to Gartner, use traditional statistical machine learning. Of course, this will change as the organization and projects evolve, but especially in the beginning, one should refrain from using too complex ML algorithms. The solutions have to be appropriate to the business problems and should therefore not be too complicated.

4. Cloud service providers should become part of the AI strategy

The strategic use of cloud technologies can help to simplify the deployment of AI projects. By 2023, cloud-based AI will increase 5-fold. Artificial intelligence and the cloud are thus growing inseparably together and should be taken into account directly at the time of introduction.

Artificial intelligence promotes problem solving Increased automation allows companies to focus more on partnerships and other business units. It therefore requires confidence in automated artificial intelligence to get the most out of your business.
