As Business Insider reports, Amazon is working on a completely new service that is set to revolutionize the entire industry of the future. Under the project name AWS Thor, according to BI with reference to internal documents, is a new software that is to be used for monitoring large industrial plants. Here, data from production is monitored, analyzed and provided with forecasts.
Tor’s goal is to use temperature, sound and vibration measurements to predict when a machine needs maintenance before the fault occurs. Predictive maintenance takes on a whole new meaning here. The machine learning algorithm used is designed to help companies plan better and avoid performance losses.
The service, named after Thor, the god of thunder, is due to be officially launched in October this year and, according to the news platform, is currently being tested in Sweden. The system is to be used for industrial monitoring to further optimize processes in large buildings.
It remains to be seen what exactly how the program will work and whether AWS Thor will be the final name of the project. However, such systems for collecting and processing data from machines using IoT interfaces are the future and will continuously improve the industrial halls of tomorrow.
